Events Senior Scene We invite you to join us for the following events at the San Diego Zoo, Wild Animal Park and CRES (Conservation and Research for Endangered Species)! Silver Tuesdays Please join us for Silver Tuesdays, a program specifically designed for seniors. It all takes place in the Wild Animal Park's Hunt Nairobi Pavilion, about 200 yards inside the front gate. It begins with a lunch of soup and sandwiches, followed by a talk by one of our wonderful staff. Each month, you will meet a different personality from the Park and maybe even the Zoo, who will spend some time telling us about the part they play in making the Wild Animal Park such a wonderful place. And, of course, we won’t forget the animals: after the speaker, we will treat you to a special animal presentation as you sit comfortably at your table. When the program is over, you are welcome to enjoy the rest of the Park. Time: 11:30 a.m.–1 p.m. Reservations are required and groups are encouraged. This program is perfect for mobility-challenged adults. Price: $34 per person for members per visit ($37 for nonmembers) and includes lunch, the special speaker, and an up-close animal encounter. For more information, please call (760) 738-5057 or click here. 2008 Schedule Taste of CRES For a special and enlightening outing, it's hard to top A Taste of CRES, an upscale tour program offered by the Wild Animal Park. Starting at 4:30 p.m., the event begins with a tour of the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Center for Conservation Research. You will get to see the state-of-the-art research facility and learn about CRES (Conservation and Research for Endangered Species) scientists and their research projects. Then, you'll be escorted to an elegant cheese and wine-tasting reception (nonalcoholic drinks available) at 5:30 p.m., followed by some conversation about conservation during a presentation by a dynamic speaker, usually one of the CRES researchers. Each month will feature a new speaker with fascinating stories. The cost of the entire program is $59 per person, and it runs from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Because the speaker will change each month, we invite you to come back again and again to enjoy the reception and speaker for only $35. Reservations are required, and participants must be at least 16 years old. (Ages 16 to 18 must be accompanied by an adult.) 2008 Schedule For more information, please call (760) 738-5057 or click here
